Lourenca Mendes Brito, 62, a devoted mother and pillar of strength to her family, peacefully passed away on March 2, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Campanas Baixo, Fogo, on August 10, 1962 to the late Ana “Nhalila” Mendes and Cesário Martins. Lourenca lived in Fogo, Cape Verde for 31 years before immigrating to the United States.

Lourenca was a woman of unwavering belief, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. As a mother, grandmother and Godmother, Lourenca instilled her strong values and religious beliefs in her family. As a beacon of hope, she was a faithful member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she actively participated in the church's choir, regularly attended masses, offered her time for numerous events and volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for many years.

Lourenca is survived by her loving husband Jose DeBrito, and her beautiful daughters Vanda DeBrito of Pawtucket, RI, Janice DeBrito of Pawtucket, RI, and Jaquelina DeBrito of High Point, North Carolina. She is also survived by her brother Lourenço Mendes Martins, four nieces, two nephews, and two grandchildren.

Lourenca found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promises of eternal life. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and an unyielding trust in God's plan.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 7th, 2025 from 4pm-7pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, Rhode Island 02865. Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 8th at 8:30 a.m. in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 291 High Street, Pawtucket, Rhode Island 02863. Burial will follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect Street, Pawtucket, Rhode Island 02860. Relatives and friends are invited.
